We have always loved the designs on the 50 different classic commemorative coins. We recently obtained a number of beautifully toned examples, some of which are featured on our Inventory page.
If you read our Blog from July 10th you will recall that we submitted a number of Elgin and Norfolk commemoratives to the three major grading services to see how they would assign grades to these coins. Well, the results are (finally) in, and they are as follows:
NGC; Elgin, MS65, 66+; Norfolk, MS67, 67, 67
CAC Grading; Elgin, MS66, Norfolk, MS67,67,67+,67+
PCGS; Elgin, MS65,66. Norfolk, MS66,66,67.
From the above it appears that the three grading services were pretty consistent, although we were a bit surprised that CAC Grading gave the two highest grades. We will be featuring a number of these coins at the upcoming Manchester show and if you plan to attend we hope you will stop by our table. We will have a lot of nice coins, including many in old PCGS and NGC holders.
